New York: Recently NRI actor/producer Tirlok Malik was honored with the 'Outstanding Citizen' award by the New York City Council in collaboration with the Jackson Heights Indian Merchants Association for his filmmaking career.

Respected and renowned for his ability to produce films that portray the American experience for someone of Indian descent, Malik has made New York City his base. The honorable Helen Sears, a City Council Member representing the 25th district, spoke with pride at the ceremony about the achievements of Malik and his impact on the NRI community.
